Self Care Sessions with Blomma Beauty: Facial Ritual
Updated: Aug 31, 2020
Last week, we had the pleasure of filming our first video with Blomma Beauty, where we went through our Bumi three-step facial ritual and had a lovely discussion about the natural, unrefined ingredients we have used in each of our skincare products and how to use them.
It is important to set time aside to look after ourselves, especially whilst we are in lockdown and may not be feeling our best. One extremely positive thing that has come out of the current situation is that most of us have the opportunity to reconnect with ourselves and our thoughts. Many people are also starting to pay more attention to what we feed our bodies on the inside and out. For those of us feeling anxious or stressed, taking the time out to spend on ourselves can make a very positive difference to our state of mind.
Although levels of pollution have and continue to fall, we are still subject to toxic and damaging particles in the air, that damage our skin’s barrier by breaking down cells and lodging unwanted dirt and bacteria in our pores. Often our skin can not repair itself at the rate that pollution is damaging it, so we need a little help along the way with powerful, natural skincare as well as eating healthy food and drinking water.
Our water-free, three step facial ritual will act as a magnet to dirt and bacteria, combat blemishes and repair and restore your skin.
You’ll need warm water, three clean spoons or spatulas, a muslin cloth or a flannel, and a towel to dry your face between steps. We will go through each of the products, demonstrating how to use them and discussing the skin benefits they bring.
Note that this is not a vegan ritual as the Face Mask (step two) includes honey. I can assure you, however, that the honey we use is sourced locally from an ethical supplier who respects their bees.
Here's a preview of the video, but you can view the full ritual (and join in) on IGTV (Instagram TV). Click here to view.
Face Polish: Juniperberry, Sage, Hemp & Volcanic Ash
Rebalance oil production and polish away impurities and dead skin with Volcanic Ash and Bamboo Stem powder. Hemp Seed Oil and Shea Butter are both antibacterial and soothing, leaving your skin with a protective layer that does not clog the pores. Juniperberry and Sage Dalmation Essential Oils combat bacteria and smell amazing as well.
How to use
Gently work a thumbnail size scoop of Face Polish in to wet skin in circular motions. Focus on oily or problem areas such as the T-zone and avoid the eye area. Rinse off with warm water and/or a wet muslin cloth.
Tip: For a less abrasive scrub, add water in to the palm of your hand with the polish before applying.
Face Mask: Honey & Cinnamon
Get your circulation going with warming and antibacterial Ceylon Cinnamon and organic Coffee grounds while you polish away impurities and dead skin. Unpasteurised, London honey soothes, hydrates and helps to regenerate skin cells.
How to use
Wet your face with warm water. Take a generous scoop of Face Mask. Again, I like to work in a splash of water before applying to make it easier to spread. Smooth an even layer on to your face, avoiding the eye area. Leave for a minimum of 15 minutes, then remove with warm water and/or a wet muslin cloth.
Night Repair: Broccoli, Cucumber & Rosehip
The ingredients in this rich and nourishing Night Mask have been carefully chosen for their ‘anti-ageing’ properties. This means they are packed with vitamins and minerals that aid cell repair and regeneration. Most of the ingredients in this formula have very small molecules, which means they can penetrate deeper layers of skin and leave a thin, non-greasy layer that will lock in moisture and protect your skin from the elements.
How to use
Massage a thumbnail size scoop of Night Repair into a clean, dry face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Let it sink in for five minutes before going to sleep.
