Broccoli Seed Oil
Updated: Feb 29, 2020

Oh, we all love Broccoli. Personally I’ve always been a fan of Broccoli al-dente for dinner, so naturally, I was beyond delighted when I found out just how much that vegetable has to give! Packed with vitamins A, B, C and K, the oil taken from the broccoli seed offers many benefits for your skin and hair, too! Non-greasy yet lusciously moisturising, could it be the next anti-ageing go-to?
Where does Broccoli seed oil come from?
No, we don’t put Broccoli in the blender and come out with oil! Organic Broccoli Seed Oil (botanical name Brassica Oleraceais) is made by cold-pressing the tiny seeds of broccoli sprouts. These little sprouts are said to contain up to 80-100 times more of the antioxidant sulforaphane than broccoli itself - can you believe it!
Broccoli oil skin benefits*
Moisturising
Broccoli seed oil is loaded with fatty acids that will treat dry hair or skin. As well as penetrating the skin, it leaves a thin layer on top that locks in moisture without clogging the pores.
It's not greasy
Although Broccoli has a solid fatty acid profile (Erucic acid, Oleic acid and Linoleic acid to name a few!) it absorbs quickly into the skin and does not leave a greasy layer behind. A little bit goes a long way, so you don’t need to worry about looking like a christmas tree!
Protective
Broccoli seed oil leaves a layer on the skin that protects against pollution, the elements and UV rays. I don’t know about you, but when I’m whizzing around London on my bike, my face needs some protection!
Anti-ageing
Broccoli seed oil contains vitamin A, which helps to rebuild and regenerate damaged or ageing skin. Linoleic acid also promotes ceramide synthesis - the process whereby skin cells are regulated and a protective layer is formed that visibly plumps the skin. For mature skin, this is especially helpful in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and slowing further damage from every day wear and tear.
Anti-inflammatory
Broccoli seed oil helps to soothe blemishes and inflammation as it’s packed with antioxidants like vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and sulforaphane.
